Gum Disease

Gum or Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. This damages the tissues and forms pockets, leads to bone loss, loose teeth and eventually tooth loss. The two major stages of gum disease are gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is a milder and reversible form of gum disease. Gingivitis may lead to a more serious, destructive form of gum disease called periodontitis. Warning signs of Gum disease include:

• Gums that bleed easily

• Red, swollen, tender gums

• Gums that have pulled away from teeth

• Persistent bad breath or bad taste

• Teeth that are loose or separating

• Change in the teeth fit together
